Description

We created The Healing Outlet with one big goal in mind – to connect youth, community members, healers, and nonprofits all in one place to end gun violence and promote a culture of healing in the District of Columbia. Here, we have brought DC’s greatest resources, grassroots efforts, violence intervention tools, and mental health supports all to one central place.

This is also a place where we can organize and better support each other through service coordination, outreach, and community events. You can be a co-builder of the Healing Outlet by submitting resources, recommendations, or even becoming a paid content contributor.

On our “Main Outlet” channel, you can find videos by community members, helpful articles, and easy connections to government and grassroots supports. You can also learn about emergency resources, such as where to find free fresh food in your ward, how to create a domestic violence safety plan, overdose prevention, and mental health hotlines. We have vetted and compiled up-to-date resources to help you navigate DC’s best resources.
On our “Plug In” channel, you can find a calendar of community events and submit your own events for promotion.

The Healing Outlet also has channels created by our partners in DC, such as Bold Yoga LLC, Speakezie DC, Wake the 8, and ANCRD by Dev. You’ll find motivational curriculum, workout videos, mindfulness and yoga, and stories from the community.

The Healing Outlet is built by the DC community, for the DC community to bring all of us together to stop the violence. Dealing with grief after gun violence? Here, you can find support groups or identify free/low-cost therapy. Having trouble with your child's behaviors? Here, you can find videos and articles on parent/teen communication strategies. Looking to be a part of the change? We're ready to connect and bring the community's vision to life.
